Through the lens of Young married
The call of Abram
The text says Abram took his wife Sarai with him. But Sarai is not the spectator. She is the partner — and the Father’s promise runs through both of them.
In every season of marriage, one of you will hear the go before the other. I think we should move. I think we should change churches. I think we should have a kid. I think we should give that money. I think we should have that hard conversation with that person. One of you will get the leading and the other will be invited into trust.
This is not about who is right. It is about the marriage learning to go together. Sometimes the spouse who gets the leading is wrong about the timing. Sometimes the spouse who hesitates is wrong about the courage. Most of marriage is the slow work of trusting each other and trusting the Father enough to walk into something neither of you fully understands.
One small thing this week: identify one place where one of you has been hearing a go and the other has been hesitating. Sit down with no agenda. Let the one who has been hesitating speak first about what they fear. Let the one who has been pulling speak second about what they hope. Then ask the Father where to walk together.
