Through the lens of Man

Choose life — the heart circumcised

The men I admire most have let the Father do the inner work.

You can be a moral man without being a transformed man. You can keep all the rules and have a hard heart. Deuteronomy 30 is the difference. External circumcision was not enough. The Father wanted to circumcise the heart.

Most men I know are still trying to manage their inner life with willpower. Discipline the temptation. Suppress the anger. Manage the lust. Power through the despair. All of it is law-circumcision — outer work on an unchanged heart.

Christ does the deeper work. The Spirit cuts away what willpower never can. You don’t have to manage what He has been wanting to remove.

One small thing today: name one piece of your inner life you have been trying to manage with willpower. Bring it to Christ. Ask Him to circumcise it. Then trust the Spirit’s work, not your own management.
