Through the lens of Young married
Blessings and curses — the shape of covenant
Marriages carry the curses of two family lines. His side. Her side. The dysfunctions, the addictions, the patterns of conflict, the financial habits, the way affection is given or withheld. All of it.
Most marriages just live inside the inherited curses without realizing they are inherited. We just are this way. We assume the pattern is the floor.
Galatians 3:13 says no. Christ redeemed us from the curse. The pattern is not destiny. The cycle is not unbreakable. In Christ, generational curses can stop with you.
This takes intentional work — prayer, counseling, repentance, new practices. But the spiritual weight has been absorbed. The work is now downstream of grace, not upstream of it.
One small thing this week: name one generational pattern in your marriage that you have been treating as the floor. Bring it to Christ together. Pray that the curse stops with you. Begin the practice of doing it differently.
