Through the lens of Man

Remember — manna and what humbles you

Deuteronomy 8:3 is the verse Jesus quoted in His own wilderness. Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Most men live on bread alone. Provision. Output. Achievement. Material reality. That is the bread. We work for it. We measure ourselves by it. We feed our families with it. We are not always wrong to focus on it.

But Deuteronomy 8 — and Christ in the wilderness — says bread is not enough. Every word from God is what actually sustains. Without that, even the man with the most bread is starving.

Most of the men I know who burned out in their forties or fifties did not run out of bread. They ran out of word. They had been eating bread alone for too long.

One small thing today: in a hard week, take ten minutes for word. Not strategy. Not productivity. Bible. Prayer. Silence with the Father. Let Him feed you what bread cannot.
