Through the lens of Young married

Cain, Abel, and the line of Seth

Genesis 4 records the second pattern of sin in human history — and it shows up in a family.

Adam and Eve sin in the garden. Their first son murders their second son. Sin is not just personal. It moves through bloodlines. It echoes in the kids who watch their parents.

You are at a season where you and your spouse are deciding — sometimes on purpose, mostly on accident — what is going to echo in your home. The way you fight. The way you handle money. The way you talk about other people. The way you cover your sin or own it. All of it is being recorded in a small set of eyes that are usually closer than you think.

This is not a guilt trip. It is an invitation. The same God who confronted Cain also sent Seth to Eve — a new son, a new line, a fresh start. He is doing the same thing in your home. You don’t have to repeat what you watched growing up. The line can change.

One small thing this week: identify one pattern from your family of origin that you don’t want to repeat — and one practice you are going to do with your spouse this week to interrupt it. Just one. Honestly. Together.
