Through the lens of Young married
The twelve spies — fear and a generation lost
Marriages have promised lands too — places of growth, depth, healing, fruitfulness — that fear keeps couples out of for years.
The hard conversation you have been avoiding. The counselor you have been refusing to see. The repentance one of you knows you owe but can’t quite say. The sexuality you can’t quite talk about. The financial honesty that scares both of you. The ministry the Father is asking you to step into. The family decision that feels too big.
The wilderness generation didn’t fail because they sinned dramatically. They failed because they were afraid to enter what God had promised. They preferred the familiar wilderness to the unknown land.
One small thing this week: identify one promised land your marriage has been wandering around the edge of. Talk about it. Pray about it. Take one step toward it together. Don’t let your marriage be a forty-year wandering when the land is in front of you.
