Manna and complaint
The people in Numbers 11 weren’t starving. They were bored.
The Father had been feeding them daily — miraculously — for over a year. Bread from heaven, seven days a week, free of charge, perfect nutrition. And after a while, they got tired of the same thing. They wanted Egypt’s variety more than they wanted the Father’s faithfulness.
You are at an age where boredom can feel like a problem. The job you’re in. The church you’ve been at for years. The friend group that hasn’t changed. The same prayer routine that used to feel alive. It all feels like manna — repetitive, predictable, not exciting.
The Father does not always do new things. Sometimes He does the same faithful thing for a long time. The boredom is not a sign that He is failing you. It is sometimes a test of whether you can receive His daily provision without needing it to entertain you.
One small thing today: in a place where boredom is talking, stop and notice the manna. The faithful repetition of God’s provision. Don’t rush to Egypt for variety. Eat today’s bread.
