Through the lens of Man

Manna and complaint

The most important thing Moses did in Numbers 11 was tell the truth.

He did not pretend to be okay. He did not power through. He did not hide his exhaustion behind a busy schedule. He went to God and said — I cannot do this. I am crushed. Please end this.

Most men I know — including me — would rather collapse in private than admit weakness in public. Especially to God. We treat the Father as another person we have to perform for. We tell Him the optimistic version of how we are doing. We pray for our weariness instead of from our weariness.

Moses’ prayer is one of the most masculine in the Bible. Honest. Naked. Specific. At the end of his rope.

The Father did not shame him for it. He gave him seventy elders. Honesty about the burden is what unlocks the share.

One small thing today: in your prayer this week, tell the Father the real version of how you are doing. Not the optimistic one. Not the one that protects your image with Him. The honest one. I cannot carry this. I am crushed. See what He sends.
