The cloud and the trumpets — God's leading

You are at an age where you spend most of your day initiating. You are figuring out your next step. Choosing your next move. Pursuing your next opportunity. The world rewards initiative.

Numbers 9 says no. Israel did not initiate. They watched. They listened. They moved when the cloud moved.

Most of the anxiety in your twenties comes from trying to lead a life God is asking you to follow through. The cloud is the Father’s pace, not yours. The trumpet is His timing, not yours. Your job is to be paying attention, not to be planning the route.

This is countercultural. It will look passive to people who don’t understand it. It is not passive. It is attentive. And the people who learn to live this way arrive somewhere the people who lead from initiative often never reach.

One small thing today: pause for ten minutes. Don’t strategize. Don’t optimize. Just listen and watch. Where is the cloud? What is it doing? Notice. Then take whatever step the Father shows you next — not five steps. One.
