Through the lens of Man

The cloud and the trumpets — God's leading

The hardest thing the Father asks of a man is to wait.

Most men are wired to act. We have been told that initiative is a virtue. That decisiveness is leadership. That we are at our best when we make a call and execute. All of which is sometimes true.

But Numbers 9 paints a different picture of mature manhood. Move only when the cloud moves. Not before. Not later. When.

The man who has not learned to wait will burn out his marriage, his kids, his ministry, and eventually himself. He will be ahead of the cloud in some seasons, behind it in others, and rarely with it. The man who has learned to watch and listen is rare and trusted. People follow him. The Father uses him.

One small thing today: in one decision you have been about to make, wait. Don’t move yet. Pray. Look up. Watch the cloud. If it isn’t moving, neither are you. The Father will tell you when. Until He does, the waiting itself is the work.
