The golden calf was not built out of rebellion. It was built out of impatience with God’s hiddenness.

You are at an age where the Father is often quiet. You don’t get the answer about the future. You don’t get the clear sign about the relationship. You don’t get the validation about the calling. The cloud covers the mountain and there is no movement.

Most of us, when God is hidden, do exactly what Israel did. We make a god we can see. A relationship that fills the silence. An achievement that gives us identity. A platform that lets us measure ourselves daily. A version of God that says yes to whatever we want.

The Father does not punish you for impatience. But the calves you make in the silence will eventually have to be ground to powder.

One small thing today: name one place where God’s hiddenness has been unbearable lately. Resist the calf. Wait. Tell Him you would rather have His silence than a god of your own making.
