Tabernacle — a portable Eden

Paul says it as plainly as he can. Do you not know that you are God’s temple, and that the Spirit of God lives in you? (1 Cor 3:16).

The dwelling place that God spent seven chapters describing in Exodus has moved. From a tent in the wilderness, to the temple in Jerusalem, to Jesus’ body, to yours.

That sentence ought to do something to you. Most of us, especially in our twenties, have a complicated relationship with our bodies, our minds, our daily choices. We treat our days as ours to do whatever we want with. Paul says no. You are God’s dwelling place. He lives in you.

This is not legalism. It is honor. The way you treat your body, your sleep, your screens, your relationships, your habits — all of it is the upkeep of the dwelling place. You are the lampstand. You are the altar. You are the place where God meets the world.

One small thing today: pick one habit that has been treating your body or mind like yours alone. Reconsider it. The Father lives here. What would change about that habit if you really believed it?
