Through the lens of Man
Passover — blood, deliverance, memory
In the Passover, the head of the household was responsible for applying the blood to the doorposts. He did not save the family by being strong. He did not save the family by being smart. He saved the family by bringing them to the lamb.
This is one of the hardest spiritual lessons for men. We were taught that leadership means being able to fix things. The Passover says leadership means bringing your family to the place where mercy is applied — and then letting the lamb do the work.
The man who is fixing his family is exhausting. The man who is bringing his family to the lamb is life-giving. The first one is an idol. The second one is a priest.
Most men I know are tired because they have been trying to be the lamb instead of bringing the family to the lamb. The role is not yours. The role belongs to Christ. Your job is to lead your wife, your kids, your friends, your team to the doorpost where His blood is applied.
One small thing today: name one place where you have been trying to be the lamb in your family — fixing, performing, carrying what is not yours. Step out of the role. Lead them to the actual Lamb instead.
